In many ways, coaches at the junior varsity level are the most important coaches in high school basketball when it comes to officiating. Junior varsity coaches are instrumental in the development of young officials. These award winners understand that officiating is a critical component of high school sports and that officials play a crucial role in maintaining fair play but also need time to learn and develop. As such, they go above and beyond to create a positive, supportive, and collaborative environment that allows young officials to learn and grow. By creating a positive environment, these coaches are not only helping young officials develop their skills, but they are also contributing to the overall success of high school basketball and it's future.
